Hello Lansdowne!!
I think it is safe to say that Spring is finally making its grand entrance! I sure did miss the mild temperatures and the sunny days. As we slowly make our way out of the pandemic, I would like to encourage everyone to please take some time to get out, visit our parks, patronize our local restaurants and businesses, and just enjoy each other’s company! It’s been too long.
With spring comes spring cleaning! While you take some time to freshen for the new season, please remember to also maintain your outside spaces. Keeping our front yards and streets clean helps us keep Lansdowne beautiful. Recently 2 residents reached out about trash in their neighborhood so I have asked the Community Relations Committee to partner with me to help organize some spring clean ups around town. This is still in the very early stages of planning, but please stay tuned to the newsletter and social media for updates.
This month I had the great honor of promoting 4 of our officers to Sergeant! Congratulations to Sgt. Miller, Sgt. Craig, Sgt. Kester, and Sgt. McGowan. These gentlemen worked hard for this achievement, and I am very proud. At a time when the police are often cast in a poor light, I would like to take a moment to commend Chief Rutherford and all our officers for the hard work and dedication that they have and for keeping us safe as well as their commitment to fostering a great sense of community.
Lastly, I would like to congratulate the Historic Lansdowne Theater Corporation for being awarded grants from both Delaware County Council and a Federal grant bringing the theater closer to opening than ever before! It has been a long road and I know our residents are excited to see this project come to fruition. I would like to also thank Lansdowne Borough Council for being steadfast in their support of the theater throughout the years.
Thank you for reading this month’s newsletter. As always, it is a pleasure to serve you, I am always happy to hear from you, and I look forward to seeing you around town!
Mayor Magda Byrne
