February 17, 2022: Letter from Council President, Benjamin Hover

Lansdowne Logo

Dear Lansdowne Friends and Neighbors,

Happy February! I hope you all celebrated a joyous Valentine’s Day and had the opportunity to support our local businesses in your celebrations.

As we emerge from the cold winter and move into the first flowers in March, Lansdowne Borough Council and the Boards are busy planning for activities this spring.

Council Recognition:

Over the next few weeks, Lansdowne Borough Council Members and Mayor Byrne will celebrate with the many neighbors of Irish-American Heritage and host a flag raising on March 12th at noon. View the resolution here. Council would also like to recognize the many women in leadership in our community on Council, the achievements in various professions, and also the leadership in numerous community organizations. View the resolution here.

Borough Council would also like to join with Legion Post 65 and thank the many donors who supported the American Legion Hometown Heroes Banner Campaign. Please take a moment to view the banners hanging on North Lansdowne from Veteran’s Park to Greenwood. Read more about the program HERE.

Events:

Save the Date:

On April 8th at 4:00, Lansdowne Borough Council will officially open Gateway Slope Park and celebrate the fulfillment of a long term vision of Lansdowne Borough Council. In particular, Lansdowne Borough Council will dedicate the trail to past Council President Norman “Marty” Council who advocated almost 20 years ago for the purchase of the property to provide a beautification to the entryway into Lansdowne. All Lansdowne residents are invited to the event. Read more about Gateway Slope Park in the “Gateway Slope Notes” HERE.

Community Development:

Lansdowne Borough Council voted at Council on February 16th for development of the McKinley Tot Lot. Please view the designs for McKinley Lot HERE.

On February 23rd at 6:00, Lansdowne Borough Council will host a meeting with community stakeholders and NV5 design to review the design to develop the Walkshed Plan and provide revisions to the Landing, Veterans Park, the Highland Avenue, and the Owen Avenue lots. Read more about the plan or submit your comments HERE.

Lansdowne Borough remains committed to the development of the Green spaces and parks for all residents in Lansdowne. Hope to see you around town!

                            Sincerely,

                            Benjamin Hover

                            Council President
