Welcome to the brisk days and beautiful leaves in the Borough of Lansdowne! This autumn, Lansdowne Borough Council will be busy working to complete our current projects and continue to develop our upcoming projects in Lansdowne. Borough Council will be finalizing the budget for the next year and plans to continue the excellent services in our Sanitation Department and Police Department, investment in projects in our downtown and in our human resources, and to continue our investment in projects in our downtown to support economic development and quality of life for all residents in Lansdowne Borough.
Environment, Parks, and Recreation:
Lansdowne Borough Council continues to work with NV5 Engineering in the development of a preliminary plan for the revision of Veteran’s Park and The Lansdowne Landing. When the preliminary plan becomes available, we will have a public meeting for community members to provide feedback for revisions.
After frustrating delays this past summer, the work on Gateway Slope is now moving much quicker and the entryway “Lansdowne Borough” sign, stairs to the Landing area, and the retaining wall on Scottdale Road are now completed. Please continue to follow the progress of the project through Gateway Slope Notes.
Also, the "Welcome to Lansdowne” signs are now hanging on the entryways into Lansdowne on Baltimore Avenue and Lansdowne Avenue, and are in the business districts on Shadeland Avenue and East Plumstead Avenue.
First, on behalf of Lansdowne Borough Council, I want to congratulate and thank the Lansdowne Economic Development Corporation and the many volunteers for a successful Arts on the Avenue Festival. Lansdowne Borough invests in and supports the events of the LEDC each year and were happy to see such a great event take place after the year off from COVID. A special thanks to Susan Williams for leading the committee to organize the festival.
Next, Lansdowne Borough Council voted unanimously to contract with Urban Research and Development Corporation in conjunction with Connect to the Dots to develop Lansdowne Borough’s Comprehensive Plan. Through the next year, the Comprehensive plan will allow for significant community input about the future goals for Lansdowne Borough.
Lansdowne Borough Council would like to congratulate the Lansdowne Public Library, Head Librarian Bill Patterson, and the Library Board on winning a Gold Star for their Programming.
Enjoy the fall! Happy Halloween! Please be safe while trick or treating!
Hope to see you around town!
