Meet Lansdowne's Newest Police Officer: Jake Lyons

Officer Lyons

A new addition to the Lansdowne Police Department, Officer Jake Lyons is no stranger to the Police Force. With Police Officers in the family and working at the Darby Borough Police Department right out of the academy, Officer Lyons is excited to see where his career in Lansdowne will take him.

Being a Police Officer has always been an ambition of his because of the history in his family. Lyons’ Uncle works for the Haverford Police Department. During college, Officer Lyons was in the ROTC and originally had his sights set on the military; however, when that did not turn out and he returned from college, he decided on the police force after contemplating his career path.

In July of 2018, Officer Lyons entered the Montgomery County Police Academy where he graduated in December of 2018. In April of 2019 Officer Lyons was hired by the Darby Borough Police Department.

Attending the Montgomery County Police Academy and growing up in Delaware County, Officer Lyons wanted to expand his career within Delaware County and is eager to work with the good residents of Lansdowne. He is very excited about furthering his career with the Lansdowne Police Department.

Lyons says that his favorite part about being a Police Officer is how much he has learned in such a short amount of time. “I have a long career ahead of me and I would love to continue to learn more and maybe work up the ranks into Criminal Investigations and I plan on working towards a spot on the Delco Emergency Response Team (ERT Region 1).” A very ambitious young man, he is excited for the future of his career with the Lansdowne Police Force.

Although Officer Lyons is still young, he fully understands the responsibilities of being a Police Officer. “I know that I am younger than a lot of the guys, but I do understand what it means to be a police officer and will do the job to the best of my abilities and serve the community of Lansdowne the best that I can.” He is also excited to be in the Borough of Lansdowne, a community that is very familiar to him having grown up in Delaware County.

Officer Lyons currently resides in Broomall, his home town. We are very excited to welcome Officer Lyons to the Lansdowne Police Department.
