Dear Lansdowne neighbors,
Hope your summer is joyous and fun! Also, Council hopes everyone stays cool and hydrated during the heat and humidity of the summer!
First of all, thank you to all of the volunteers, participants in the Parade, and residents who came out for the 4th of July Parade to join in the festivities and bring back some of our traditions after a year off from COVID quarantining. See pictures from the event here.
Lansdowne Borough Council continues to see exciting economic development and improvement of amenities for all of Lansdowne.
The Callahan Ward development being discussed at HARB on East Baltimore Avenue will bring new housing opportunities and development to the East Baltimore Corridor and support the long term vision of revitalization in underutilized lots on Baltimore Avenue. Please see the Baltimore Avenue Revitalization Plan here.
Work also continues on the development of projects to improve the amenities for Lansdowne Borough residents through strategic investments in the parks and in the walkability of our downtown. As reported before, NV5 Engineering continues to to redevelop and upgrade the Veteran’s Park and The Landing area and we expect the design within the next two months. The upgrades will provide the next stage of a thriving downtown community gathering space and upgrade our parking lots. When the plan is delivered, the Borough will host public meetings to solicit comment for revisions to the plan.
Lansdowne has been in the spotlight through the great work and brilliant concept of Bonnee’s Wondergardens and Franklin Fountain. It’s great to see Lansdowne highlighted through the hard work of our businesses.
Paving by Penndot will be coming to Lansdowne Avenue in early fall. When completed, the Lansdowne Avenue Crosswalk will be completed and bike lanes will be incorporated connecting to the Eastern Delco Bikeway Plan.
Similarly, the Paving Program for Lansdowne will commence in the Fall. And the construction on Gateway Slope continues. Please see the latest Gateway Slope notes here.
Lansdowne Borough Council received and recently hung the banners at Veteran’s Park and on poles on North Lansdowne Avenue Lansdowne for our entryways and our downtown.
Lansdowne Borough just received the “Welcome Lansdowne“ banners and will be placing them at the main entry points on Baltimore Avenue and Lansdowne Avenue and along the business districts on Shadeland and Plumstead. Please see the banners Council voted to approve here. Thank you to Hoff Communications for donating the services for several pictures.
July 24th at 1:00 We will have a flag raising ceremony for “Liberia Day” on Borough Greene and would like to invite residents to attend.
Enjoy the rest of your summer! Hope to see you around town!
Council President Benjamin Hover
