Pennsylvania has an abundance of local, state, and federal public lands that provide the opportunity to pursue close-to-home or deep-in-the-woods experiences.
With this many different outdoor spaces, one can assume that these areas are being used heavily. In fact, outdoor recreation use has been on the rise (especially in the time of COVID-19), despite the population of Pennsylvania remaining around the same as previous years.
As you can see, Pennsylvania's outdoor recreation areas are in high demand. The new outdoor rec plan addresses five priority areas to improve access, opportunities, facilities, services, and systems for all our parks and greenspaces.
Be sure to check out the rest of the Outdoor Recreation Plan and see how the plan will be used by state agencies, local governments, and other recreation providers to guide outdoor recreation programs, policies, and projects to support DCNR's state and federal Land and Water Conservation Fund grant selection process.
