Meadow Test Sites
The Parks and Recreation Board has approved the establishment of meadow test sites to evaluate the possibility of establishing meadows in some Lansdowne parks. Subsequent to that approval the following sites have been established and include:
- east end of Interboro Park , total sun location
- east end of Interboro Park, 25% shade location
- east end of Interboro Park, 50% shade location
- east of the Hoffman Park basketball courts, near the creek – partial shade location
- south end of Belmont Park, straddling the water course, full sun location
- south end of Belmont Park, Partially dry and partially wet land with full shade
These areas will not be mowed, but will be monitored throughout the season. Some may require mowing at mid-summer while others not until fall, depending on the findings of the meadow experiment. We are looking at this as a potential cost cutting savings as well as an opportunity to view the natural flora of the area. We welcome your comments and concerns.
The Department of Parks and Recreation maintains, operates and supervises the public parks, play-fields and all outdoor recreation areas and facilities owned or operated by the Borough of Lansdowne subject to the approval of Borough Council.
