The preliminary 2011 budget for all funds was presented to the Committee for review. The preliminary General Fund budget included all requests made by the Council members and Borough Department heads and had a resulting fund balance of -$81,000. The Committee made several recommendations regarding cutting expenses and the allocation of revenues with the goal of a 2011 fund balance of at least $150,000.
At the November 3rd Council meeting, the Committee will recommend to the full Council that the preliminary budget as modified be advertised for public comment. This General Fund budget includes a 2.5% real estate tax increase, no trash fee increase and a 5.5% sewer fee increase. This budget projects a $164,000 ending fund balance for 2011.
The Sewer Fund budget includes a 5.5% sewer fee increase to accommodate a projected 12.5% increase in the fees being charged to the Borough by the Delaware County Sewer Authority.
