Present: Sharon Coleman, Kevin Lee, Ellen Lustgarten, Joe Bartley, Craig Totaro

There were no visitor comments

  1. 20th Century Club rental/fee analysis: Approximately 80% of fees for the 20th Century Club comes from private parties, meetings, etc. with the remainder earned from Lansdowne community groups such as Celebration Theater and the Folk Club. The committee felt that there would be a substantial increase in revenue by air conditioning the Club making it available to private parties in the summer months. The Finance Committee has referred the issue of air conditioning the club to the Infrastructure Committee.
  2. Employee health insurance contribution program: There are a few outstanding issues to be resolved before this program can be put in place. Mr. Totaro will check to see if the Police contract allows them to participate in this program. He will also work with the Borough Solicitor to develop a statement to be signed by employees attesting to their having the appropriate alternate health insurance coverage should they choose to participate in this plan.
  3. Use of Municipal lot policy: The Committee agreed that requests for the use of the Municipal lots should be handled by the Borough Manager in the same manner as the Director of the Parks and Recreation Department handles requests for the parks.
  4. Restructuring Debt: Mr. Bartley will look to see if there are any opportunities to refinance any Borough loans at lower interest rates
  5. Fire Company request for fee waivers: Ms. Lustgarten will send a letter to the Fire Department on behalf of the Finance Committee requesting further justification for the waiver of inspection and U&O fees for the Department’s newly purchased property.
  6. Pension Committee meeting: Mr. Rioboli from Independence Advisors will meet with the Pension Committee on February 2nd at 6:00 p.m.
  7. Tax revenues: Revenue received by the Tax Collector in December 2008 is $133,000 less than received in December 2007. Mr. Bartley will look to see what opportunities there are for factoring receivables from delinquent taxes.
  8. The Tax Anticipation Note of $500,000 has been received.

The Committee adjourned to Executive Session to discuss personnel issues

The next Finance and Administration Meeting will be held Monday, February 2 at 7:00.
