Environmental Committee

Guest: Mike Jozwiak, Director: Zoning and Code Enforcement


  • Apt enforcement/notification
    Mike Jozwiak presented the borough’s recycling ordinance with recommended changes that would enable the codes department to enforce recycling in apartments. It includes a provision that allows Council to establish regulations by resolution from time to time regarding which items must be recycled and how (i.e. source-separated or single-stream). The committee is recommending adoption of the revised recycling ordinance.
  • Gannet Fleming Technical Assistance Study
    The study entitled, “Sustaining an Affordable Waste Management Program” was distributed; the committee will develop a list of follow up questions for Gannett Fleming. The committee will ask council to review and submit questions/comments before the May 13th committee meeting.

Make Lansdowne Beautiful Day

The Earth Day clean up event April 17th is in the final planning stages. Outreach efforts include the banner at Lansdowne & Baltimore Avenue, flyers in area businesses, visits to area businesses to encourage participation, the borough newsletter, and communications at borough council, neighborhood and board meetings.

Marlyn Park Master Site Plan

The committee members will review the plan in detail that council conditionally adopted 4/7/10.

  • Tree Advisory Board
    • Terms for board members Helen Marcarelli and Joseph Parsio expire 4/30/10. Each is willing to serve another term; council will be asked to reappoint them at the May 5th council business meeting.
