Treasury Report

Board spent $1282 on Conservation supplies, $200 on Contracted services. Total spent $1482, remaining $1,518.


The minutes from the July 14th, 2010 meeting were read and approved.

Old Business

Baltimore Corridor Project: There will be a tree planting continuing along the corridor to Church Lane including replacement of dead trees on November 20th . 40 new street trees will be planted.

Lansdowne Tree Tenders: Tree Tenders will be contacted soon for the ongoing care and maintenance of Lansdowne Borough’s trees including weeding and pruning and removal of gator bags. There was a discussion of a possible workshop.

Parking Lot Trees: An article from the Inquirer was distributed to the Board about parking lots being a good place to plant trees (especially black top that becomes extremely hot in summer). The Board plans to plant Mary Lou’s 2 trees and possibly one from the Fall free tree selection in the municipal parking lot on Lansdowne Avenue. Permission will be needed from the borough.

New Business

Trees for Residents: The first week in November free trees for borough residents will be offered. ML distributed a list of the 22 types of trees listed by size. The minimum order is 10 trees, maximum order 40. They will be bare root trees.

Shade Tree Ordinance: No more work has been done on the ordinance.

Tree Tenders training: ML noted Tree Tender Classes:
Chester County – THIS CLASS IS CLOSED – Kennett Area Senior Center Kennett Square, PA Tuesdays – September 14, 21, 28 • 6 – 9 pm
Bucks County Newtown Township Municipal Complex Administration Building Newtown, PA Thursdays – Sept. 23, 30 and (N.B.) Oct 14 • 6 – 9 pm Pre-registration is required.
PhiladelphiaTHIS CLASS IS CLOSED – PHS 100 N. 20th Street, 5th Floor, Philadelphia
Wednesdays, Oct. 13, 20, 27 from 5:45 pm to 8:45 pm and
PHS Saturdays, January 15 & 22, 2011 from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm 
Fee: $25 Pre-registration is required.


New Director of Parks & Recreation has been hired.
The Board is checking into purchasing a stake driver for planting trees.
The Board does not plan to have an information/volunteer sign up table at the Art Alliance at the 20th Century Club on September 11th.

Philadelphia Green will be having a 3 day workshop that ML will be attending in November. It will include a bus tour that includes Sycamore Park.
ML noted and distributed the list of certified arborist in Delaware County.
