Regular Meeting Minutes

September 15, 2008

The meeting began at 7:05pm, present were Barry Malone, Jack Kelly, Khalil Shearlds, Dawn Haussler, Mike Mills & Fred Mirarchi. Also present Jeri Staiber Lansdowne ‘s Recreation Director, Joe Urban the Council Liaison.

Minutes from August were reviewed & accepted.

Update on the scouting projects one by Elliot, he would like to construct a small bridge over a creek that runs through Reservoir Park for his Eagle Scout project. We also heard from Alex Reinhart about his Eagle Scout project to build and install bat houses.

Joe Urban, Council Liaison reports.
Joe said he will investigate what funds are available for Capital Improvements. Joe would like to have the Park Board discuss what was accomplished on our list from last year ‘s budget request. Next year ‘s budget hearing will be at the end September and he would like to see other Park Boards Members at this hearing. Joe also stated that a local family would like to donate a Park Bench; Jeri will follow up with Mayor Jane Young as to the particulars.

Jeri Staiber, Recreation Director and finance report.
Jeri gave out the financial reports. Jeri will meet Bob Bartmann to write specs for those projects that will be going out to bids (tree work at Belmont & Marlyn, the toy at Belmont and the entrance improvements at Hayes). Jeri shown the board pictures of possible toys that could be place in Belmont one was of a $23,000 climbing rock. Jeri would like this board to know all the work Bob Bartmann has doing for ours Boro, like cleaning up the brush at Marlyn; his continues work at Interboro Park, also developing plans for the Baltimore Pike Improvement incentive to plant 60 trees along that road.

New Business….

“Park Day” will be Saturday, September 20th we have Fresh Air Flicks setup around 5pm to show Rattouie. Jeri ordered and paid for the Moon Bounce and requested that it be dropped off at Fred ‘s house Friday night. Dawn and Mike will go to BJ ‘s to pick up the food and soda ‘s well as the Movie in the Park, we thought since it gets dark earlier and we could start the movie at 7 and push back the starting time from noon to 2 and run until 9. We will ask the Cinema Sofa for their popcorn maker. Joe will try to get a DJ, and check into getting us someone to face paint the kids. Barry for the flyer design. Dawn will check out the banners. Jeri delivered the flyers to the schools she handed out the posters to the businesses around town. Fred will also make sure the Johnnie ‘s gets a clean up the Friday before Park Day. Khalil will take the lead a get the prizes and games together. We will need volunteer at the snack bar, Moon Bounce and Khalil will also need help with the children for the races and games.

Jeri told the board that the Budget hearing would be September 29, at 7 at Boro Hall, and that boards members are encouraged to come.

Bob Bartmann will be giving a park tour at Marlin, September 27, starting at 10:00 am.
