Minutes from May were reviewed & accepted.

Joe Urban, Council Liaison reports.
Joe said he would let the council know that this board recommended the creek in Marlyn be named for Victor Avery. Joe said that the environmental committee and the park and education committee have over-lapping responsibities towards the parks; he was hopping to get further clarification on his committee’s responsibilities.

Jeri Staiber, Recreation Director and finance report.
Jeri was on vacation this week. But Jeri did okay the treatment for the fungicide for the Sycamore tree at Sycamore Park and mulch has been delivered at Belmont Park.

Old & New Business….

Movie Night May 31st at Hoffman Park has been canceled, due to the weather conditions. A phone tree was requested when changes are made. We hope to reschedule the night of “Park Day” some day in September.

Khalil talked the to school’s Athletic Director in regards to the possibility to use the gym for some teen activities this summer. Khalil and the director thought they could work something out. They came up with a Monday Wednesday & Friday schedule. They call the program “STEP” (summer time enrichment program), ideas for guest speakers for further education, conflict resolution and community service projects. Joe said the idea sounds good and Khalil will be looking for director to head this program. The school’s gym will only be open until 8 pm, Khalil will find out if that hour can be extended.

Barry would like to see the board take a more active roll in the recreational aspects within the Lansdowne community. Any suggestions will be discussed.

The board did not at this time decide whether or not to fence and plant this area. After contact with the Greater Landowne Civic Association we were told that they would be able to help us plant the area.

Meeting adjourned 8:40

Next Park meeting, Monday, July 21st at Hayes Park, 7:00 pm
