MINUTES

Date: June 18, 2009

The Lansdowne Borough HARB held a regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at 7:03 PM at Borough Hall, 12 E. Baltimore Ave., Lansdowne, PA.

Members Present:
Jeffrey M. Laufer, AIA, Chair
Gloria Carpenter, Vice-Chair
John Gould, BCO, Borough Liaison
William H. Patterson III, Secretary
Elizabeth Roeder, ASID

Members Absent: None

Others present:
Tom Grand (representing the applicant at 23 N. Lansdowne Ave.)

Call to Order: Mr. Laufer called the meeting to order at 7:04 PM. All deliberations were made in consideration of the Lansdowne Borough HARB Guidelines and the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation (Standards). The applications provided by the HARB Borough Liaison provided the basis for discussion.

Public Comment: Mr. Laufer called for public comment and the following comments were heard. There were no comments from the public.

Approval of Minutes of April 30, 2009: Mr. Laufer asked if all members had a chance to review the minutes and if there were any comments or corrections to offer. No comments were offered. The minutes were approved with no objections.

Item No.1: 23 N. Lansdowne Ave.

The Board reviewed the application and proposed the following revisions:

The address shall have an N included as 23 N Lansdowne Ave.

  • Sign shall be 32 wide x 30 tall overall and conforming to the shape defined in rough drawing (see below).
  • Sign thickness shall be one and one-half inches, MDO plywood.
  • All lettering shall be gold as per sample submitted. Doctor’s Office copy will be outlined in black. The edge of the sign will be painted the same gold color as the lettering with the border extending one-half inch onto the faces of the sign. The background color of the sign shall be red as per the sample provided.
  • Sign shall be attached to the existing beam so as to allow movement in high wind and hung in compliance with Borough building code.
  • Sign shall be hung so that the bottom is nine feet, six inches from the sidewalk.
  • The distance from the face of the building to the sign will be determined by the projection of the pent-roof and reviewed by the Borough Code Enforcement office.

The above recommendations were agreed to by the applicant. Ms. Carpenter made a motion to recommend Council approval, seconded by Ms. Roeder. The motion was carried unanimously.

Adjournment: Mr. Patterson made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:04 PM; seconded by Ms. Carpenter. All were in favor.

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the HARB will be on July, 2009 at 7:00 PM at the Borough office.
