Board of Health
September 8, 2009
The regular monthly meeting of the Lansdowne Board of Health was held on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at 7:00 pm. in Borough Hall. Present were Dr. Romney, Al Them, Bertha Phillips, Mike McCall and Betsy Riffert. Absent was Council Liaison Michael Schleigh.
Formal approval was received for the June minutes. There was no quorum at the July meeting. Therefore, the minutes presented were of an informational nature only.
Inspector Spangler’s July/August bill for $480 was approved as presented.
Health Officer’s Report:
The Health Officer’s report for July/August was approved as submitted. Ms. Riffert will phone My Old Place Bakery on September 9, 2009 to see if they received the proper fire extinguisher inspection that Inspector Spangler referenced in his notes. Ms. Riffert will report in October.
- Home Based Businesses: Ms. Riffert is awaiting for a return call from the commonwealth regarding whether we need to devise our own definition for “home-based business” for the health ordinance supplement regarding such facilities.
- Soul of Jamaica: Ms Riffert reported that this is a new public eating and drinking facility that was recently open for business.
- 7 S. Lansdowne: Ms. Riffert reported that this location is presently undergoing renovations for some sort of retail operations. It has not gotten to the point of being inspected by Inspector Spangler. Ms. Riffert will keep the board abreast of any developments.
- October and November Meeting dates: Mr. Them expressed the need to either excuse himself, change the dates, or review paperwork before the referenced meeting dates and relay comments to Ms. Riffert before regularly scheduled meeting dates, as he has conflicts on both dates. Ms. Riffert stated that she’ll get some dates together for the Board, email them, and come up with a solution before the scheduled October 13th meeting.
