Meeting Minutes

May 11, 2010

The regular monthly meeting of the Lansdowne Board of Health was held on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at 7:00 pm. in Borough Hall. Present were Bertha Phillips, Betsy Riffert and Marla Shawaryn McLaughlin, Ph.D… Absent were Mike McCall, Dr. Romney and Council Liaison Schleigh.

Minutes

The March minutes were approved as submitted.

Bills

The Health Officer’s March invoice for $340 was approved, as well as her April invoice for $360.

Health Officer’s Report

The Health Officer’s March and April’s reports were approved as presented. Ms. Riffert discussed the Officer’s March inspection of Pantry 1, noting that it stated that the owner was not ready to recycle without written notice. Ms. Riffert will send a copy of the requirements to him. This letter will also require him to send the Board proof of recycling. Also in the March report, it states that Wawa was to get Ms. Riffert a copy of their most recent extermination report. She has not received this yet, and will follow up with Corporate Wawa.

Old Business

  1. Home Based Businesses: The ordinance is scheduled to go in front of the Public Safety Committee for their input tomorrow evening, 5/12. Status will be given at our June 8 meeting.
  2. 2010 Licensing: The Lansdowne Swim Club has not located a vendor for their snack bar as of this meeting date. Tara Burke, Manager of the Club, will keep Ms. Riffert informed when the do find a vendor. At that time inspections will be made prior to their opening.

    The Jamaican Jerk Hut is no longer in business. Florence Delaney’s home based business seems to be non operational as well.

  3. Public Health Initiative: Ms. Phillips gave the Homeless Service Resources Guides from the Homeless Services Coalition of Delaware County to the Library Board for their input. As previously mentioned, Marcella Melot, Library Board Treasurer, is a “worker/volunteer” with Ms. Phillips at a local shelter.
