Meeting Minutes
Board of Health
June 10, 2008

The regular monthly meeting of the Lansdowne Board of Health was held on Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at 7:00 pm. at Borough Hall. Present were Al Them, Betsy Riffert, Bertha Phillips, Dr. Romney, and Mike McCall. Absent was Council liaison Sharon Coleman.

The Board will defer approval of the May minutes until their July 8, 2008 meeting, when there will be an updated copy available.

The Health Officer’s April invoice ($480) was presented for payment at our May meeting, with final review and approval granted at this meeting. The Officer’s May invoice ($440) was presented and approved as submitted.

Health Officer’s Report:

The Health Officer’s reports for May was presented, discussed and accepted as submitted.

Old Business:

1. PA Department of Health Annual Report: Ms. Riffert stated that this has been completed, however, she didn’t bring copies and will be presented at July’s meeting.
2. Licensing of Establishments: All have been re-licensed for 2008.

New Business:

1. Redesign of Health Licenses/Doing In-house: Ms. Riffert stated that the Board has finally run out of licenses and presented a new version for the Board’s approval. This version will be 7×5, and the Board will purchase “card stock” to print them on. This is a must less expensive procedure than having a printer re-print.
2. Correspondence from William Penn School District re: Inspections of Cafeterias: Correspondence was received from the school district that they received a letter from the PA Dept. of Education stating Congress has mandated two safety/health inspections each year for all schools that participate in the National School Lunch Program. Furthermore, the letter asks that copies of said inspections be sent to Joe Otto, COO. Since the district does, we will forward the two most recent inspection reports from the Pennwood High School and Ardmore Ave. Elementary School to Mr. Otto. We will also alert him that we perform 3-4 inspections per year.

7:40pm. Next meeting to be held on July 8, 2008 at 7:00 pm

Respectfully submitted,
Betsy Riffert
