The Health Officer’s January invoice for $480 was approved for payment.

Health Officer’s Report:

The Health Officer’s report for January was approved as submitted. A discussion was held about Mesquite Bar- B-Que’s inspection. Secretary Riffert advised that Code Enforcement Director/Ass’t Fire Marshall Mike Jozwiak was supplied with a copy of Inspector Spangler’s report and will inspect the fire ansul system. We discussed the conditions at this establishment and will ask Mr. Jozwiak to report back to the Board. The Board will also consider a letter reiterating Inspector Spangler’s findings and penalties associated with failure to comply.

Old Business:

1. Ardmore Avenue Elementary School and Penn Wood High School Cafeterias: Ms. Riffert discussed with Inspector Spangler the chronic problems at these two establishments. He stated that while these are problems, their solutions are in compliance with the ordinance. For example, the dishwasher doesn’t work, but they are using a three-compartment sink. The hot food upright unit’s doors do not close property, so they are adjusting the temperature so it maintains 135 degrees.

2. Inspections: Home based businesses being inspected by PA Dept of Health vs. the Borough. Ms. Riffert stated she is still awaiting a return call from the state. A discussion was held. The Board stated that all businesses, home based or not, are inspected and will continue to be inspected by the Health Inspector, per Ordinance. A suggestion was made to change the fee resolution to reflect lowering the inspection fee of home-based businesses to $45 (presently $55).
